When Everything Feels Off & Creativity Feels Impossible
You're not alone.
Have you ever hit a point where everything just feels… off? Like you can’t focus, you don’t feel like yourself, and no matter how hard you try, creativity feels impossible?
I’ve been there too.
For a while, I thought I just needed to push through—force myself to create, get over the mental block, make myself “snap out of it.” But it wasn’t working.
Then I realized something: it wasn’t just my creativity that was off. Other parts of my life were out of balance, and that was leaking into everything else.
How One Area of Life Affects Everything Else
I’ve dealt with this problem many times before and I think that’s why I focus on it so much. I have lost myself in unhealthy habits, negative thinking, and even addiction. The last time I noticed something was very off and I had to take action was around Christmas last year. I first noticed this imbalance when I stopped going to the gym around the holidays. No big deal, right? But then I started feeling sluggish, unmotivated, and just not like myself. That made it harder to focus, which led to frustration, which then made me want to avoid everything—even art.
And that’s when I understood:
🔹 When one part of life is off, it spills into everything else.
🔹 Neglecting small things can create a chain reaction of feeling stuck.
🔹 Creativity isn’t just about inspiration—it’s connected to your overall well-being.
This is exactly what the Wheel of Wellness shows us. It helps us see how different areas of life—health, relationships, faith, finances, career, relaxation—are all connected.
When we struggle in one area, it can quietly affect everything else.
💭 Lack of sleep? Harder to stay motivated.
💭 Relationship stress? Creativity feels impossible.
💭 Financial stress? Anxiety takes over, leaving no mental space for inspiration.
Sound familiar?
A Simple Way to Reset Without Overwhelm
When I realized things were out of balance, my first instinct was to fix everything at once. (Which, of course, just made me feel more overwhelmed.)
Then I came across Brian Tracy’s 80/20 Rule—which completely changed how I approached things.
It basically says that 80% of our results come from just 20% of our efforts.
Meaning? You don’t have to fix everything. Just focus on the one or two most important areas, and the rest will start to realign.
So instead of trying to overhaul my whole life, I asked myself:
✨ What’s the one thing that, if I improved it, would have the biggest positive impact?
For me, it was moving my body and getting better sleep. Once I made small shifts there, everything else started falling into place:
✔️ I had more energy.
✔️ I felt more like myself.
✔️ My creativity returned.
That was my 20% shift that led to an 80% improvement.
